FARM

Panoramic view of Fattoria Pulcino

Pulcino Farm lying on the main road between Montepulciano and Chianciano Terme, was formerly a monastery which became a private estate in the 16th century, just the present-day farm.

The Farm “Il Pulcino” is the result of the great dream of Mr Sergio Ercolani (affectionately known as “Il Pulcino) born in Montepulciano, and his wife Gabriella, born in Radda in Chianti, who met when they were very young.

Sergio and Gabriella, who have been working for more than fifty years, have managed to turn their lifelong dream into the wonderful reality of  this farm.
The farm is a family business dealing with the direct sale of its own typical production, both from organic and traditional farming. It is carried out with the collaboration of their six children: Elisabetta, Cecilia, Carlo, Angela, Marco and Stella, but also involves Sergio and Gabriella's eighteen grandchildren, together with other close relatives.

Sergio Ercolani met Gabriella Matassini when she came to Montepulciano to take part to a handicraft exhibition (she was an embroiderer). They got married a year later and started to share their dream to set up a business on their own.

They succeeded in their enterprise which now involves a restaurant and first quality production of wine, extra virgin olive oil, salami, pecorino cheese, marmalades and homemade cakes (such as “cantucci” and “Panello della Gabriella”).

The secret of Sergio and Gabriella's success is in their keeping faithful to their roots, staying close to their own land, so that, entering the Restaurant, still today tourists can feel the simple and genuine atmosphere of the Tuscan countryside and enjoy the warming hospitality of the country people (and they can also taste food cooked on a large grill, or in terracotta pans).
